Eaton Corporation Copper Shop Team Lead - Pulling (1st Shift) in Sumter, South Carolina

Eaton’s ES AMER ARS division is currently seeking a Copper Shop Team Lead - Pulling (1st Shift). The core hours are Monday through Friday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. The rate for this position is $23.00 - $28.00 per hour. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. What you’ll do:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

The Kitting/Pulling Team role requires an extensive knowledge of the processes and procedures used in the production, kitting, and storage of Sumter fabricated components and a full understanding of and the demonstrated ability to use AS400 and Dynamic Machine Management (DMM). Effective verbal and written communication skills are required to facilitate daily interactions with internal customers and suppliers. The Kitting/Pulling Team Leader will provide process leadership, training, and coaching to assigned Kitting and Pulling Associates to meet the safety, quality, and productivity goals of the Kitting and Pulling teams.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage the day-to-day functions of the Fabrication Copper Kitting/Pulling process. Ensure all kitting and pulling operations are being completed effectively within established safety, quality, and productivity guidelines

  • Responsible for coordination of kitting and pulling activities including checking in job material, staging of job material in kitting and pulling locations, delivery of requested kits to designated assembly team locations, and maintaining accurate job material inventory.

  • Ability to proficiently operate Powered Industrial Trucks and material packaging tools.

  • Ability to root cause quality issues.

  • Measure and communicate team and individual performance to established goals and provide feedback to the department supervisor if deficiencies are noted.

  • Determine and implement training requirements for individuals and teams. Serve as a resource in specific skills training as needed.

  • Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment safely and competently. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keep assigned work area clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards.

  • Coordinate with Copper Shop Team Leaders to meet assembly customers’ expectations for quality and on-time delivery of job material kits.

  • Serve as primary contact for Assembly Team Leaders and Supervisors to respond to changes in kit requirements and or missing material.

  • Attend tier 1 and 2 production meetings to present and discuss Kitting and Pulling issues, urgent requirements, planned production schedules, and “My 5 Metrics”.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED required from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing or materials processing experience required.

  • Prior work experience using a computer, including competence in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, and Excel) required.

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within the immediate area of Sumter (50 miles) will be considered for this position.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US permanently without company sponsorship

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach at or above shoulder level, grip, and use hands to handle and feel. The employee must frequently stoop, lift, carry, push, pull, and grip. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 35 pounds and to push/pull up to or greater than 35 pounds with or without accommodation. The vision requirements include far and close vision with depth perception and color discrimination. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to communicate.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience as a Team Leader (or similar leadership role) is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience with AS400 and DMM computer programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in teams across plant and corporate entities

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented

  • Strong organizational skills
