Responsibilities:

  • Lift up to 50 lbs - bending carrying pushing pulling and other activities as needed

  • Stand and walk on concrete for long periods of time

  • Work in cold and/or hot temperatures throughout the day

  • Receive work assignments from the lead or supervisor from drawings, specifications, sketches, samples and verbal instructions.

  • Plan and perform assigned projects determining what operations need to be performed and what tools to use; asks for guidance when needed.

  • Machines parts for all types of production equipment including conveyors, racks, tables, ovens, dough mixers, dough rollers, automatic meat, sauce or cheese machines, cutters, chippers, grinders and shredders.

  • Machines parts for equipment including forklift trucks, compressors, boilers and pumps.

  • Joins metal using techniques such as heli-arching.

  • Work at close tolerances and recommend improvements.

  • Build to specifications or use discretion based on knowing which materials are best suited for a given application.

  • Maintain equipment in good working condition, cleaning, oiling and replacing parts, as needed.

  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, observing common safety practices.

  • Perform all duties in accordance with USDA regulations, OSHA, company policy and established procedures.

  • Responsible to conduct yourself and ensure your subordinates (if applicable) conduct themselves in a manner consistent with company mission, values, code of ethics, policies, and other standards of conduct.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

    Years of Related Experience: Typically, five or more years of related experience.

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must have satisfactory job history and satisfactory current job performance. Must have operating knowledge of machine shop related equipment. CNC programming experience and Focus Training preferred.

    So, what's this job all about?

    This position is responsible for machines and fabricates equipment using machine tools requiring standard and difficult setups such as turning, facing, boring, drilling, reaming, and chasing threads. Calculates and cuts compound angles using swivel vice and universal heads on milling machines and similar tools requiring full knowledge of machine tool capabilities.
