SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Quality Engineering Supervisor, the Quality Engineering Technician is responsible for working alongside Quality Engineers to assist in the development of statistical analyses and trending in order to maintain both the Quality Management System (QMS) and the reliability and continuous improvement of product and processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with the identification and application of elements of the corrective action process, including problem identification, failure analysis, root cause analysis, problem correction, recurrent control, and verification of effectiveness
  • Assist in the implementation of data collection plans, including consideration of how the data will be collected, including check sheets, data coding techniques and automated data collection
  • Support data flow and identification on area continuous improvement boards
  • Support kaizen activity and related activities
  • Support Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) events
  • Conduct internal audits of management systems and assign corrective actions as necessary
  • Support manufacturing operations, including quality trending and data analysis, and assist with containment initiatives and dispositioning of materials
  • Facilitate, process, and oversee return of product via Return Material Authorization (RMA) processes, coordinate Material Review Board (MRB) meetings, and communicate with customers regarding it
  • Conduct calibrations of tools and equipment used for mechanical inspection equipment, simple electronic measuring devices, and temperature devices.
  • Review of qualification, process, and inspection documentation for correctness and compliance
  • Performs Mandatory Inspection Point (MIP) on Space Grade cable assemblies or in-process and final inspections on CNC manufactured components and provide feedback to operators
  • Creates Keyence programs and inspection templates to be used by CNC production
  • Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Carlisle IT Pottstown is a clean facility housing different kinds of machinery, equipment, processes, and chemicals which produce potential hazards in the work environment such as: ergonomic, chemical, machine point of operation, and powered industrial vehicle traffic. These hazards are controlled through means of engineering controls, such as machine guarding, and administrative controls, such as safety policies and programs. In certain areas of the facility, employees are required to wear Personal Protective equipment such as Hearing Protection, Safety Glasses, Safety Toe Shoes, and hand protection.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Clear ANSI Z87.1 safety rated glasses are required or the job when in the manufacturing areas. Safety toed shoes or boots (ASTM 2413-11 standard) are required in specific manufacturing areas.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Level I: 1-2 years of experience with the inspection and/or documentation requirements of microwave cables or related products/processes. Alternatively, Associate's Degree in an engineering field, or similar discipline, and less than 1-2 years of experience. Demonstrated success in supporting production needs and training of operators.
  • Level II: Associate's Degree in engineering field, similar discipline, or high school diploma with equivalent experience. Demonstrated thorough understanding of cable inspection and documentation requirements. Demonstrated advanced mechanical, technical, and analytical capabilities. Demonstrated expertise and understanding of cable inspection and documentation requirements. Skill level is at an advanced to subject matter expert level. Typical minimum of 3 years of experience with the inspection and/or documentation of microwave cable or related products/processes.
  • Experience within an ISO controlled and/or government regulated environment preferred
  • Experience within the Aerospace Industry with exposure to AS9100 regulations preferred
  • Experience with stereo microscopes, optical comparators, calipers, hand micrometers, and various visual inspection tools preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • ASQ Certification preferred
  • J-STD-001 and J-STD-001 Space Addendum Certification preferred
  • Active IPC-WHMA-A-620 certification required
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt preferred
  • Certified Internal Auditor preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
