The global Resources Sector is evolving and growing at speed. Driven by energy transition focus, decarbonisation targets and population growth, the Resources sector continues to accelerate capital investments in discovering and developing new assets, whilst optimising existing operations. From assessments through to closure, Jacobs is well placed to support them on that journey.

As the Senior Piping Engineer, you will be responsible for working as part of our new Resources Hub team to provide and lead design services, technical input and direction in design to assist with the development and execution of growth strategies that will lead to the growth of new energy and resources business within ANZ and globally. This role will focus on leading the design aspects in support of the pursuit and delivery of key opportunities within the new energy and resources sector.

The primary focus of the role will be (but not limited to):

  • Collaborate with project teams to design Piping systems and equipment for civil construction and mining projects. Conduct feasibility studies, perform calculations, and create detailed engineering designs.

  • Identify and select appropriate Piping equipment, components, and systems based on project requirements, industry standards, and client specifications. Prepare equipment specifications and technical documentation.

  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations in all Piping engineering activities. Identify and mitigate potential hazards associated with Piping systems and equipment.

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, technicians, and contractors, to coordinate Piping engineering activities. Communicate effectively to convey technical information, provide guidance, and address project requirements.

  • Oversee the installation, assembly, and commissioning of Piping systems and equipment. Ensure proper alignment, calibration, and functioning of Piping components.

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies to ensure the reliable operation of Piping systems and equipment. Conduct routine inspections, diagnose faults, and perform troubleshooting to identify and resolve Piping issues.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement in Piping systems, equipment, and processes. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reliability. #LI-AP1

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Relevant Tertiary Engineering Degree (Professional Registration CPEng highly regarded) and demonstrated professional experience within the Resources Sector.

  • Proven knowledge of Pipe Stress Analysis and interpretation of report outputs.

  • Robust knowledge of international and local engineering methods, applicable codes and specifications associated with resources projects.

  • Experience with various aspects of the planning, design and commissioning processes, construction methods and interface requirements of multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Solid knowledge of planning, study, detailed design, commissioning and close out resources and and/or new energy projects, with sound knowledge of current design standards

  • Familiar with the delivery methodology including initiation, development and delivery phases, the specific requirements and levels of accuracy as well as design maturity required at each delivery gate for resources and/or new energy clients.

  • Experience and demonstrated track record of successfully delivering studies for resources and/or new energy key clients.

  • Experience in delivering EPC and/or EPCM projects. (not essential but held in high regard)
